Marijuana affects many parts of the human, even if you only use it once. It can affect the brain, the memory, and how the person behaves. Even medical marijuana can affect someone negatively. Marijuana affects many parts of the brain. Marijuana is an active compound that mimics a substance the body already produces called endocannabinoids. Short-term, people have noticed short-term memory loss, greater levels of pain, alterations of emotion, movement control, slower reaction time, anxiety, and their judgement can be affected. If someone uses this drug for a long time, their long-term condition will be affected in ways like, long-term memory loss, addiction, and mental health disorders, like depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. People talk about only legalizing medical marijuana, but even medical marijuana can have severe negative effects on a person. While medical marijuana can help people with nausea from cancer chemotherapy and help other disorders like epilepsy and weight loss caused by chronic illness, it has many negative effects. Negative effects of medical marijuana can be anxiety, hallucinations, paranoia, strokes, brain damage, seizures, and kidney problems. It has been said that legalizing marijuana will make the sales of marijuana decrease. However, in 2016, over $46.4 billion worth of illegal marijuana across the nation was sold. That’s roughly $928 million worth of illegal marijuana per state. On the other hand, only $10 billion worth of legal marijuana was sold. That’s roughly $200 million per state worth of marijuana.
