Sociology is happening each and every day, no matter the time or location. Everyone thinks sociologically once in a while is within us. Constructionist theories is the most common theories that relates to just about anything that is happening. Constructionism is a “theory of knowledge that examines the development of jointly constructed understandings of the world that form the basis for shared assumptions about reality.”
The labeling theory is the “view of deviance according to which being labeled as a “deviant” leads a person to engage in deviant behavior.” I’ve noticed this theory several times within the violence that is going on in the world now. Social reality theory has four factors that jointly produce the capitalist society’s high crime rates but also help consolidate established legal order as well as its dominant class which are lawmaking by dominant class, law enforcement by criminal justice system for dominant class, criminal acts by subordinate class and popular ideology of crime. I’ve noticed on the news with the police brutality against the black community; they seem to always find a way to criminalize the victim by digging up their criminal background trying to classify them as a danger to society which is the cause of their death. With the story about Tamir Rice a 12-year-old boy, who had a fake gun and was not harming anyone. The police received a call about someone at a park with a gun and the caller told them that it was probably fake, the officers arrived to the park and fired without any questions. Tamir was only trying to show them that the gun was fake and he didn’t say anything threating to the officers, they just started shooting. This story ties in with this theory, by thinking that those who are poor are criminals because of their lifestyle. They basically classified this little boy as a threat based off a call they received, they didn’t care to ask questions or to try to call the child parents. Feminism has been a big thing over the past decade. The Women’s March 2017 is a prime example for feminist theory. The goal is to advocate legislation and policies regarding human rights and other issues, including women’s right and so much more. The women’s march aimed to the opposition to the deportment and political positions of President Donald Trump and his administration. All of a sudden, the world will realize that us women are fed up with being mistreated, and not having equal opportunities as men. The women’s march gives women of all race, age and sexuality a louder voice to let the world know that we are humans too and we should be treated just as equally as men. Without us women, this world will not even be able to function
