In a world in which technology allows a consumer to search the web and at the click of a finger have a product delivered to their door, it is important that business remain competitive and offer its consumers the best product at the best price. The current economy no longer affords the average consumer to purchase products or services without any thought to comparison shopping. Therefore it will be important that businesses offer consumers promotions to lure consumers to their products. Whether that promotion is in the way of coupons, rebates or simply a sample product, consumers now want more products without spending more money. At the counter, there would be batteries so that as customers checked out paying for their purchase, the cashier could also offer batteries to be used with the battery operated candles. That way this allows cash from both transactions to be received by Bath and Body Works rather than the customer having to go to another store. This saves time for the customer as well as increases sales for Bath and Body Works. Cents-off would be another way that Bath and Body Works could use customer promotions.
With cents off, Bath and Body Works could offer its customers a cents-off promotion for its scented candles. For instance, if a customer buys a scented candle, there is a scratch off that allows the customer cents off of their purchase. This promotion could only be used in the store as an added bonus to those customers who chose brick and mortar locations as opposed to shopping online. The scratch-offs could be located at the checkout, that way the cents off could be used with combining items in the store as well. Refunds could also be applied to customer promotions within Bath and Body
