In the film Cool Hand Luke produced by Gordon Carroll and the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey , there are many similarities. Both of these works were portrayed in an institution of some time either mental or prison camp. Both of the works were set to be in the 1960s. The most important similarity of both Cool Hand Luke and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s, is their theme of one man fighting the power, which was also a main theme of the 1960s.
This bond is shown in the following passage: "… my engine’s seizing up,’ Jesse said, ‘I’m going down.’… Tom needed to do something to help his friend, and fast. Jesse’s story couldn’t end like this (Makos 10). The preceding quote shows not only that Jesse and his wingman Tom are friends, but also that Tom wants to help his best friend out of a sticky situation and doesn’t want him to go through it alone. This act of friendship and selflessness show that Tom and Jesse devoted to helping each other throughout not only good times but also the bad and would risk their very lives to help each other.

From anyone related to the rodeo industry or even just going through the motions of life, when it comes down to your “ride” it could mean life or death. For Luke in The Longest Ride, it meant exactly this. In this novel, it clearly relates to the title. Within rodeo as a whole, the sport is very dangerous whether you are a bull rider, barrel racer or roper.
In the novel A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J Gaines, Grant is a main character that has a lot of influence over the people in his community. Some might even consider him a hero. I believe that Grant is a hero because he helps Jefferson become a man, changes himself for the better, and wants to continue changing the community. Over the course of the novel, Grant helps Jefferson become the man that he needs to be in order to walk to his death with honor. When Grant first begrudgingly went to visit Jefferson in prison Jefferson was in a really low state.
“The Hero’s Journey” is term for a narrative style that was identified by scholar Joseph Campbell. The narrative pattern would depict a character’s heroic journey, and categorize the character’s experiences into three large sections: departure, which contained the hero’s call to adventure, fulfillment, which consisted of the hero’s initiation, trials, and transformation, and finally the return. The novel The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan investigates the relationship and actions of four Chinese women and their daughters. The character Lindo Jong’s youth in China exemplifies the three part heroic journey in how she leaves the familiar aspects in her life, faces trials in the home of her betrothed, ..... Departure:

In Ray Braudbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag undergoes major changes because of the influence of other intellects and events; in effect this caused him to ruminate about events that were considered “normal”. “False” Dwight Schrute, who is he? Dwight (played by Rainn Wilson), is a sale representative at a paper distribution company, Dunder Mifflin on NBC’s The Office. Trying to explain someone like Dwight is complicated, because you must start at the beginning to really understand what kind of person you are dealing with. There are no words that accurately describe and grasp the true complexity of his thoughts and actions, making Dwight one of those instances where actions speak louder than words.

Some traits that they all have in common is that they are great leaders and are willing to sacrifice themselves to save others.
