I want to be a part of the Cougar Counseling Team because I think I would be a valuable asset to the team. I want to help spread positivity and help others through their college experience to make their time at College of Charleston enjoyable. I like to think I am a positive role model who can encourage and support others who seek out help. I have always been the friend that others seem to come to when they need someone to express their feelings. When my friend recommended that I should be a part of the team, I did research on what the team did in the college community and instantly wanted to be a part of this ground-breaking team.
I feel like communication skills and being comfortable with many views are both great necessary qualities to have when dealing with a diverse college campus. I am very open minded and respect other people’s views even though they might not agree with my views. I possess great social skills and find myself very personable. I get along well with multiple different people which I think would be a great addition to the counseling team. While in college, I have demonstrated my …show more content…

The people who need it most may not know where they can get help; I would like to change that aspect. I would encourage the team to market more and spread the word about this great service. Maybe set up events where refreshments are served to help bond with the campus, spread positivity, and encourage visits. The team could host social events, do tables in the Cougar Mall, or host a contest. I want every student at the College of Charleston to not feel intimated to seek out help and more importantly know where they can get help. This team is an amazing program, that more people need to be aware of its existence. I would be honored if I could be a part of the Cougar Counseling Team and be able to help the students that need it as well as spread positivity among the student
