Debra, Thank you for your post. Your description of Seven Counties Services as an organization that aides individuals “who are fighting addictions, abuse, mental illness, and developmental disabilities” is remarkable (Mrock, 2016, para.1). What a wonderful organization. Crutchfield and Grant (2012) stated that “high-impact nonprofits engage in both direct service and advocacy”(p.49). It is clear from your post that Seven Counties Services provide a service to the individuals whom it engages.

When Keystone Community Services was first found its initial ambition was to be a neighborhood-based community in Saint Paul, Minnesota. As the growing organization expanded their services variety, funding sources were an important factor of the organization to ensure stability to keep
By assisting a person to access a wide range of services you are encouraging to look at their options, entitlements and choices. This promotes wellbeing and looks after the individual as a whole person. It can give them a more positive out look and promote good mental health. If a person has for example access to libraries, support groups or resource Centre’s with encouragement this can promote a more positive outlook on their circumstances and then have power over their own lives. By giving access to gyms and healthy eating it can empower them to know about their own physical limitations and improve their physical stamina.
I thought Meals on Wheels of America was just a simple organization covering the surrounding counties that provided a meal a day to senior citizens who had trouble providing a meal for themselves. However, I have learned that Meals on Wheels of America was established in 1954 and is the oldest and largest national organization representing community based senior nutrition programs and that it has 5,000 member programs, in which they provide over 1 million meals to seniors every day, which are served at senior centers as well as delivering meals directly to the homes of seniors whose mobility is limited. After reading chapter 6 and learning about outpatient and inpatient services, I have realized in my experience as a volunteer at a local
With the undeniable truth, everyone must age and grow older. Although this is a natural process of life, not everyone is accepting of this. At this age, being an older adult you face difficulties such as aging, sexuality, relationship dynamics and having to face reality that you are not in your prime as you once were. Heart attacks, strokes, and other ailments are examples of this. However, just as there younger counterparts they still able to do somethings they were able to do in their earlier stages.
Federal Funding had aided many individual in our country in particular the elderly and low income families. An example of aid given is Meals on Wheels, which is an organization composed of volunteers that will home deliver hot meals to many elderly in our country. Recently, the Trump administration has proposed a budget cuts on federal funds that helped seniors. The USA today published recent news discussing the issue in more detail and clarifying the media’s assumed blame in reference of how Trump’s proposed budget will affect Meals on Wheels. Here’s the truth about Meals on Wheels in Trump’s Budget written by Gregory Korte explained that Meals on Wheels is not a specifically a federal program but does depend on funds from federal grants.
Barriers that prevent residents from receiving proper excersise and nutrition include lack of transportation, inadequate sidewalks, sufficient income, absence of social support, and time. Large quantities of rural individuals who are uninsured are more likely to utilize the emergency department when care could have been managed in a primary practice. A community health center can help with unnecessary visits to the emergency room by providing low to no cost primary care through preventative services for rural areas suffering from poverty. In rural communities there are significantly fewer mental health providers than urban areas. Mental health providers with expertise and higher level of specialization are particularly rare in rural areas.
Effects of Having First Lunch Over Second Lunch is a time where for thirty minutes everyone settles down to eat and laugh with their friends In many high schools, such as Mountain Pointe High School, there are two lunches to accommodate the student body because one lunch would be too crowded and large. There is first lunch, which is also called fourth lunch because it occurs after third period and then there is second lunch, also called fifth lunch because it is after fourth period. Both lunches have their benefits, but the ones from first lunch can have a tremendous impact. In general, the effects of first lunch instead of second can greatly improve the quality of life for a student.
Helping the committee members to create goals for their community and execute a plan will give them the courage to talk to their local officials. In addition, it will educate the community on steps to organize to ask their officials for accessible medical centers, health education courses, and free to low cost medical
For instance, service delivery is a trend that changes as community changes. In the past, individuals had to go the a service building in order to apply for food assistance, but now with the advancements made in technology they can apply over the internet. According to Lewis and Packard (2012) services deliveries mostly changed based on multiple factors such as: economic trends, social trends, technological trends and political trends. In many occasions, different human service organizations that have different service deliveries often work together to help individuals and families because they all have the same goal in mind. There are many different human services organizations that helps people on a daily basis with things such as: Food assistance, clothing, shelter, education and many others.
I really don’t like saying that I feed the homeless, I like saying I serve the homeless. I believe you feed cows and dogs and other livestock, but human beings get served, no matter what situation an individual may be in. the way Allen Chapel A.M.E. church started out feeding the homeless was through an organization called Riverside City Mission. They go throughout the city of Riverside, CA asking churches if they may use their facilities to feed and clothe the homeless. Allen Chapel A.M.E Church opened their doors to Riverside City Mission about two and a half years ago, through a Pastor named Stephen Pearson.
My community placement is at Brampton Caledon Community Living. The community is mostly for adults and people with intellectual and physical disabilities. It works to support and empower all people in the area and it works alongside the community and families in the community. Most of the people that attend the program are adults that live with either their parent(s) or a family member (low income) in Bolton. To help reach out to and accommodate to families with lower income, the center charges a small fee for the adult to attend.
