At my request, I spent the following week as a laborer on the assembly floor so that I could touch and feel the processes I would be accounting for. I spent the next five years working with engineering, production and quality assurance developing and fine tuning workcenter and product performance reports; running the numbers for two plant restructurings; playing lead on opening a JIT value add facility at Ford Motor Company’s backdoor; investigating variances; working with cost reduction teams; streamlining processes and; truly enjoying that fact that I was making a real difference.
