As a student teacher currently placed within the ACE Academy trust, I would like to apply for the position of class teacher within Key Stage 1. I am a passionate and driven individual who strives to inspire children with a love for learning that they will maintain throughout their lives. At all times I aim to provide exciting, imaginative and engaging learning opportunities; effectively differentiated to enable children to succeed. With excellent reports from both placement schools, I will complete my PGCE this year and intend to continue to develop my pedagogy in an innovative, exciting and imaginative manner.

I am open to receiving advice from more experienced colleagues and actively use this to make changes and improve my classroom practise. For instance, at the start of this term in year 2, a previous observation suggested planning in time for children to explore and learn through their own inquiry. I have found this to be a successful way to advance children’s understanding and this has also resulted in high levels of engagement and enjoyment. Additionally, during teaching placement I have used a range of strategies to ensure high levels of participation, including the use of ICT, story-telling, visualisation and drama. I have found these to be effective educational tools and I aim to create cross-curricular links wherever possible. For instance, I recent taught an R.E. lesson centred around the Hindu creation story and we started the lesson by imagining we were meditating to the Hindu gods. I played a singing bowl to create a calm atmosphere and immerse the children in the scene, we then moved onto creating our own drama to bring the Hindu creation story to life.
