To identify when I realised designing videogames should be the focus of my creative energy
would be impossible, but my experiences and achievements over the years have convinced me this
type of degree is the only pathway for my future. From memories as early as making clay
animals in primary school, I have tirelessly worked to mature my penchant for translating the
smallest of ideas, instructions and inspirations into fully-fledged creations, and I now
firmly believe that studying games at University is the perfect opportunity for me to
flourish. It would allow me to combine my love of all things creative and innovative with my

My efforts in all subjects have complemented my personal development as
an artist, a communicator and a designer. Furthermore, I take great joy in contributing to
extracurricular creative pursuits both in school and out. I held the responsibility of senior
Art prefect for a year, allowing me to help oversee the running of the department. I also run
a comic book art club for students, drawing inspiration from classic graphic novels and
producing our own work, starting from initial concepts and working up to the inking and
colouring processes. My studies have pushed me to experiment widely with a range of techniques
and mediums when creating, and as a result of this I am constantly seeking new ways to broaden
my horizons further. The ever-advancing nature of the videogames market is therefore very
appealing to me, and I feel that I have the artistic background and all-round ability to learn
that will enable me to rise and meet any challenge.

This left me fascinated with the wider industry surrounding gaming,

Outside of education, I dedicate my time to further creative activities, and have enjoyed
reading books like The Mammoth Book of Street Art by JAKe. Videogames have also been an
integral and fascinating part of growing up, whether they were the retro games dug out of the
cupboard for rainy days as a child, or the increasingly complex adventure games that occupied
my preteen years. As I got older, I sought to learn more about the work behind gaming, in
addition to being greatly interested in coverage of gaming conventions like E3, and poring
over the inspirational concept art of companies like Atomhawk. Furthermore, I thrive on taking
opportunities to develop myself, such as the National Citizenship Service programme in 2014,
which drastically enhanced my skills in organisation, teamwork, problem solving and
communication. I would describe myself as someone with a vivid imagination and a great
learning attitude, and I believe Games Design is a brilliant way to utilise these qualities.
