Creative Writing: Dipper's Creature

It was a cold night, the moon peeking out from behind the clouds. Fireflies twinkled through the sky like stars, the only color in the gray scale forest. A young boy, Dipper as he went by, chased after them, laughing merrily, either not noticing that the world was only grays and blacks, or just not caring. He stopped, a slight smile on his face as he cupped his hands. He made a tiny crack, and peeked through to see if he was lucky enough to score one of the tiny lights. But they were empty. He frowned, his bottom lip sticking out slightly.

“Would you like some help?” A sly voice asked. Dipper looked around, but there didn 't appear to be anyone there. He felt cold hands, cover his eyes, and he squealed. “It 's okay little one,” The voice soothed. The child felt something hard press against his back, that moved as if it was breathing. “Okay little one, do you want to see the floating light bugs now?” Dipper nodded, and the hands disappeared. After a few steps into the forest, Dipper was stopped with a tight shoulder grip from Bill. “Look over there Pine tree.” Bill pointed his cane at some area to the left and Dipper gazed over in that direction. There stood, what Dipper could only assume was a unicorn. The creature was the only color in the surrounding landscape. Its pelt was a light shade of pink, its mane pure white. It, at the moment was eating grass. But after a moment, its ears twitched and it looked up. It watched Dipper straight on, and the boy watched it back, not even daring to breath. Then it looked at Bill. And its eyes widened, fear glistening for a second. The rare creature tossed his head back and whinnied before racing off. Dipper watched after it in wonder as it disappeared between two trees. Bill rested his hand on the boy 's shoulder. The boy twitched, for he had forgotten that the older man was even there.
