From the 1500s - 1800s there were many independence movements across the globe. One of the most highlighted ones is the uphill battle for the Creoles against the Spainards. In the early 1800s the Creoles started revolting against their rulers, the Spaniards. There were a handful of unfair laws placed against the Creoles that were intolerable. Not only did the Creoles have to break free from the Spaniards they also had to become independent from all the other social classes surrounding them. The peninsulares held great power over the Creoles in Latin America. The lower social classes, Mestizos and Mulattoes were also huge threats to the Creoles as they could seize power over them at any given time. The Creoles fought for independence so they could have economic freedom, individual political rights and to create a new legacy for future generations and forever. …show more content…

We in America are perhaps the first to be forced by our own government to sell our own products at artificially low prices and buy what we need at artificially high prices (Doc C). The climate in Latin America was perfect for producing sugar cane, which was in high demand in Europe. The Spanish were scamming the Creoles out of their own product to make buckets of money, and keep them poor and unable to financially fight back. Even though the Creoles were being scammed by Spain they had the strongest economic influence in Latin America which caused tension between the social classes. The Penisulares had the strongest power across the Americas and were always above the Creoles. The Creoles had growing economic and social influence but the peninsulares monopolized all administrative positions (Doc B) The Creoles were trapped yet again and couldn't politically fight back to change the monopoly of their products'
