I have struggled with trying to find the right careers for me. Of course, there is plenty to choose from, but I concluded I wanted to study something to do with the human brain. I did my research and found both psychology and criminology caught my eye. With psychology being the study of the human brain and behavior and criminology being the study of crime and criminals, I thought they were both different from each other. Turns out they are comparable in many factors like in their human brain studies, their aid to the community, and interesting components and methods. Furthermore, to clarify, psychology and criminology have similar studies because both basically study humans. In fact, they also have identical researches. For example, the Happy Kid, Happy Adult research in psychology. This study showed that happy kids were 60% less likely to develop emotional problems as adults (University of Cambridge). Likewise, A criminology study stated that children with unhappy childhoods or bullying problems were 47% likely to commit a crime (Davis). For instance, psychologists do different trainings and processes which help them envision the mental state of a person. After identifying whether a person has a mental health disorder like chronic depression, serious trauma, anxiety etc., they are treated. Also, learning what causes mental disorders helps prevent them, which is great help since most are the causes of suicides all over the world. Criminology seeks patterns that help anticipate where a criminal will strike next or if a person shows signs of criminal behavior. Doing this, prevents crimes and criminal behavior from developing into something serious and contributes to arresting criminals. To sum up, psychology and criminology assist in stopping dreadful events from happening in the
