Individuals in the mental health spectrum possess a diverse perspective on the adverse effects that inhibits a person 's ability to function appropriately among the general populace. The fundamental attribution error is an intricate element that encompasses a preconceived notion of an individual 's behavior before considering their situation. Individuals in the mental health field often times have to remember that a client’s behavior is linked to a mental illness. Each person of the hotline team contributes a different dynamic to the team, which is essential, as there are extreme events that transpire when assisting a person in need of an intervention. Their collaborative efforts to work so cohesively was an amazing site to in person, as one person was on the phone with law enforcement while the other was deescalating the situation. As I am observing their behavior, all I was thinking about is how the two of them genuinely care about the safety of the client, and the innocent bystanders, witnessing this, what it sounds to be a horrific event. Sadly, it turns out to be a fake call, widely referred to as a “skype” call by crisis hotline members. Skype, is a computer program that enables people the ability to make calls by using their computer, and is untraceable. These individuals called the hotline, appeared to be under extreme duress, provided a fake address, and had law enforcement called out to the location that did not exist. Since the call was made using Skype, these individuals cannot be traced and reprimanded for their behavior. From a personal perspective, that was an uncomfortable feeling, as these individuals staged a call, while indeed appearing to be in a crisis.
