In 10,000 B.C. the agriculture revolution started with the Neolithic Period, people were able to stay in one place, and grow there own food. Instead of gathering and migrating with the animal 's, they were able to stay in one place and build settlement 's. These settlement 's turn into the ancient cities such as Egypt, Nubia, Babylon, Greece and Rome. There were a lot of agriculture inventions as well. A few of the inventions were the horse- drawn seed drill, stock breeding, and the mechanical reaper. The horse- drawn seed drill reduced the amount of wasted seed they would use, the stock breeding helped improve the quality of meat, milk, and wool, and the mechanical reaper made it easier to harvest grain. The idea of a four year crop rotation helped as well so the soil wouldn’t get worn out and dried up. Another farming method included enclosure which made the soil a lot healthier and stronger letting it be used more to produce crops.

The Neolithic Revolution drastically changed the lives of the people in the Paleolithic Era. From where they lived, to their lifestyles, government, and how they received their food was all changed during this time. Additionally, the Neolithic Revolution was the start of a new era that had many technological advancements. Some of those changes are still being used today. Without the Neolithic Revolution we would not be living the way we are right now.
Ever since the emergence of mankind, humans have always prioritized their search for food and water. Even today the need for sustenance is still prominent; however, methods for producing it have evolved over time. The Paleolithic people went about scavenging, hunting, fishing, and gathering on their quest for food. The Neolithic Revolution marked a transition from such practices into the “cultivations of crops and the domestication of animals.” (Strayer, pg.12) Even after thousands of years, although techniques have changed, the basic concept of agricultural cultivation has still remained similar.
Civilization is defined as,” A complex culture in which large numbers of people share a variety of common elements.” (Duiker, William J., and Jackson J. Spielvogel) Throughout this expansion, the development of culture, and society, followed many similar patterns. As man spread across the world he made changes based on his environment, that enhanced the growth of community and the production of foods and goods. Individuals or groups of people have always had one thing in mind and that is surviving. Surviving means able to expand themselves without losing their traditional social structure and trying to fit in a larger network. Keeping track of who you are and come from holds the cultural meaningful by holding the group together. The Neolithic Revolution has been able to evolve and become a crucial part of being human by lineage exogamy, patrilineal, and matrilineal descent, and kinship and new reproductive technologies. Lineage exogamy means that lineage members must look for their marriages partners in other lineages.
It also prevented animals and other bugs from eating the seeds that were left on the top of the soil. My second reason that farming is an improvement over foraging is because it reduces the risk of food shortages or scarcity. Hunting and gathering led to food shortages because people were hunting and gathering in the same areas and eventually their food source would run out. Farming is different because they were able to plant crops that could be sustained for longer periods and were also able to plant extra in order to prevent shortages. The Neolithic Revolution brought grand improvement and innovative development through technology. The Neolithic revolution occurred around 10,000 BC to 8,000BC. Agriculture was the main component that was affected during this time. This meant improvement for tools and making the agriculture process less complex, which helped develop the tools we have today. A refinement in agriculture had begun.

Since population growth also came along with this revolution civilizations were being created, and with bigger civilizations comes the true form of government and social control which can also be seen today. To begin with, families were able to be stable and advance in other technologies and establish cities. Due to the advantage to settle in one place other industries opened creating a modern industry. Architecture, language, and art also made a huge advancement when mankind began to settle in areas. Jared Diamond made quite reasonable allegations to defend his point of view on why agriculture was not the best thing that could have happened to mankind. I do think that human being gained a lot of knowledge because of agriculture but also gained stratification and diseases.
