The Five Pillars of Islam are a set of regulations that a believer must follow according to the teachings of Islam. The first pillar is Faith or Shahada. In research. race and ethnicity are potential predictors for a particular outcome. There is need for more research studies in order to provide an understanding of the different needs among ethnic minority groups.

However, cultural appropriation has become a problem as the American society became more and more diverse throughout the course of the years. Cultural appropriation is the theft of one culture’s intellectual property or key beliefs, generally by a larger culture, and then this larger culture using what is taken from a minority culture incorrectly or inappropriately. Cultural Immersion: Muslim Americans Part 2 Many Muslim families are labelled, judged, and in some cases feared by the American people. Many major cities have mosques, and it is important to acknowledge the presence and value this individuals have in our society. In effort to achieve a better understanding of the faith itself and the lifestyle of those that follow the faith, I visited a worship service and a community event held at one of the mosques in Iowa. In some ways this experience felt very foreign, yet in many ways it felt very comfortable.
In this report, I will state and explain certain elements I learned as an emigrant that was completely different from my home country and why I consider it as a cultural shock. Differences Social can be represented by nationality, Personality, socioeconomic status, language, the level of "education, occupation and demographic differences and family. I stayed in my home country of Cameroon for twenty-four years and I never have the opportunity to travel to any country. My immigration from Cameroon to a Belgium leads to the emergence of cultural shock. My story began from the time I entered the plane and moved to Belgium and now to the U.S.A. I moved from an area dominated by brown skin people into an area dominated by white skin people.
Cultural competency is found within different settings however, the setting which will be discussed in this paper will apply to a school setting. A school setting is where social workers “enhance the social and emotional growth and academic outcomes of all students” (SSWAA, n.d.). Furthermore, social workers not only work with students but also, work with parents, school administration, food department, special needs department, and school health services (nursing department). In conclusion, in this paper the culturally competent social work practice of working with the Latino community will be further discussed and analyzed.
Cultural literacy is a somewhat transparent concept that has been around for long time. This means that people from all over the world have used this form of literacy and not been aware of it. Cultural literacy is simply defined as having common everyday knowledge about another culture or your own. Some examples of common cultural knowledge would be who the current president is, what a famous landmark is commemorating, or even what is the best song out at the moment.
