Dragons are quite familiar to us and we know about it through the tales, legends, or movies. Dragons are the most powerful, mysterious, and ancient creatures which was a fascinating product of human imagination. Although they are just imagination, it has a huge effect on our nature, culture, society. Knowing about dragons means knowing about the worlds that create them. Dragons exist in many lands and areas, but due to the difference in the way people think and their culture especially between west and east. Dragons in the west and dragons in the east are different from each other in the appearance, the meaning behind them and why people create dragons.

The western people have nomadic culture, and the dragons which live in caves, mountains, lakes are a wonderful goal for knights to prove their power and brave. It also shows the desire to conquer nature of them. In all their old stories, a dragon which have many heads, guard a valuable treasure in a luxurious castle with a beautiful princess, then there will be a hero who appear to kill the dragon, help the princess and have the treasure. All of their hero such as\ Persee, Mardouk, and Hercules are a dragon killer. In religion, dragons are the symbol of evil. Killing dragons means the eternal win of good against bad. Conversely, the culture in the east is agriculture. Almost all dragons live in the host of lake, river and ocean in east because people in the east live in a hot and moisture atmosphere. They live on plains, beach, or in valleys. Their life depends on water, so they create dragons as gods of water that will help them have a full harvest every years. In the east dragons also have some differences which depend on each culture. For example: in Japan, they create nine dragons, and each of them represent a different meaning and have an important influence on Japanese life, such as: sound, house, fight, literature, medicine, and so on.
