Cyber bullying is a Dangerous Epidemic
Have you or a friend ever been talked about online? Has someone written mean or harsh things about you or one of your friends online? If so did you know that you were being targeted and cyber bullied? Cyber bulling is a horrible type of bullying that comes from people getting bullied online. People are cyber bullied from social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, & etc. Some people believe that cyber bullying is not as bad as physical bullying but I choose to differ. Cyber bullying among students is a dangerous epidemic.
When someone is cyber bullied people are usual targeted by online profiles that are anonymous? These anonymous pages comment mean hurtful and harsh things on a person’s profile. …show more content…

"Online bullying is not only driving ordinary youth to suicide, but anonymous trolls are celebrating those deaths in what could only be equaled to the chat room equivalent of snuff videos" (Doucet). Teenagers are killing themselves because of the growing cyber bulling epidemic. Cyber bullying magnifies social injustices. Those who are cyber bullied are more likely to commit suicide, cut themselves runaway and become very distant.
Cyber bullying is a lot more common than might be expected. "One in three people aged between 11 to 17 are cyber bullied" (Doucet). That is way too common and this epidemic need to be stopped. Cyber bulling has a broader impact than traditional bullying. You can bully people easier over the Internet than in person because over the Internet it's my h easier to be anonymous.
Studies indicate that cyber-bullying incidents have quadrupled in five years. A 2000 survey by the Crimes against Children Research center at the University of New Hampshire reported 6 % of young people had experienced some form of cyber-bullying. In 2005, studies of 1500 Internet-using adolescents found that over one-third had been cyber bulled and half of those admitted to cyber-bullying others (Hindu and Patchin, In Review.) A 2005 study by National Children’s Home Charity revealed that 20% had been cyber-bullying victims. "In a 2012 survey of students ages to 11 to 18 administrated by the cyber bullying research center 20% said they have been cyber bullied" (Cyberbullying). Children and teens are the bigger targets for cyber bullying because teens and kids are on the computer more often than an adult would be. Children are a much easier target because kids are much more gullible and would believe anything that an anonymous person over the Internet would say.
Cyberbullying should have consequences all over, but only some states have made a law for cyberbullying. If all states had the cyber law cyberbullying would be stopped. "By 2012, 14 states had included cyberbullying in there laws against bullying" (Cyberbullying). Other states have not decided to add cyberbullying in their laws against buying because they do not believe cyberbullying is as big as it is. In all actuality cyberbullying is actually bigger than we all think and in more places than we would believe it would
