Cyrus the Great was the founder of the Persian Empire, which at that time was the largest empire in the world. He was born in about 590 BC, in Persis. The early life of Cyrus was not widely known. Cyrus the Great was in power for about 30 years. He was born to be the servant of god, gods Shepard. Meaning whatever God felt was right, he would send out Cyrus to carry out the mission, giving Cyrus full authority to do whatever is necessary to get that mission accomplished. Such a great emperor was buried in a house-shaped tomb. It says a lot about his incredible temper. Cyrus’ son succeeded him. He was successful in overthrowing Egypt. He went on to also overthrow Nubia. Cyrus’s son was sent out with the mission of rebuilding Jerusalem; god also told him that he would be responsible for laying out the new foundation. During this time, Jerusalem had never been previously invaded. Emperor Ashoka was born around 304 BCE in Patliputra, Patna. His names mean “without sorrow” in Sanskrit. He was also called “Emperor of Emperors”, “The beloved of god”, “He who regards everyone with affection”. He has many brothers who were ready to the throne after the death of Bindusara. There was a story that Ashoka killed his 99 brothers, leaving only one brother named Tissa to become the king. Ashoka was a very short-tempered person, in the early life of being an emperor, he engaged in war with different states. The turning point in his life was the war of Kalinga that happened during 261 BC. Many people died at that battle and this changes Ashoka’s mind to become a follower of Buddhism.
