High school sports can be very dangerous at sometimes depending on the sport. Before starting a sport everyone should be aware of the possible consequences like injury. There is a risk in playing a sport, you never know what could happen, you could go your whole career without injury or you could be injured every two weeks it just depends. According to www.stopsportsinjuries.org “High School athletes account for an estimated 2 million injuries and 500,000 doctor visits and 30,000 hospitalizations each year.” Sports can result in injury and hospital or doctor visits all for a young high school student. High school sports can be dangerous causing severe injuries at a young age, lead to health problems later in life but it all could be prevented with proper training, equipment and condition. When a parent signs their child up for any athletic event they need to know that there are potential injury risks. Lethal injuries very rare but they can happen, most just being a sprain, bruise, even a broken bone. More severe than those a concussion depending on the stage. But there are ways to prevent it and hopefully the number of severe injuries like concussion, paralysis and heat illness. All parents should be informed on the potential risks of the particular sport their child is enrolled in.
