Dating Sucks Nowadays Beginning from early childhood, love has always found its way into our lives’ whether we would like to admit it or not. When we were young children, most our parents showcased their love and devotion in the most promising way. That love soon developed into the category of love we find throughout our day to day lives. Our early elementary school consisted of having crushes on the cute kid that sat a crossed the class in homeroom; the relationships proceeded to progress from there. The older we get, the less we value a long lasting relationship with a partner and it leads to people choosing not to settle down anymore. The internet has been renowned for those to hide behind a screen and project their thoughts without the fear of any punishment; they feel this legitimizes breaking down the image women are attempting to create for themselves, leading them to a world of misogyny and discrimination. Women who classify themselves as feminists are constantly harassed, leading the men to be hypocritical of the initial aspect of the sexism movement. With the seemingly absurd idea of treating women with equality, things such as respect and consent become ludicrous concepts for ignorant men to understand.
The statistical data supports how women are vastly outnumbered when it come to the world of online dating. Approximately one third of the users that accommodate these sites are women, with the average person using the site eleven times each day. The idea of finding a successful partner has been noted to increase drastically. Users are quickly matched with one another with just a swipe right on their device; users are only able to chat with another individual if that other person has made an interest in them too. People can swipe through hundreds of potential dating partners daily with little effort involved in the decision making process. The process within the programs is all based on the configuration of how the app was initially built. Tinder, like many other sites, is just a game based on numbers (like how a person would view gambling in a sense.) An aspect that has had a downside concerning apps based on this idea is that the initial response towards another individual is soley based on their physical appearance because of the fact that they only get to see a picture on its own without much detail regarding their interests, work and social life, and life aspirations.
Some people may state that the problem isn’t within the app; it is due to the people using them. Most users aren’t upfront about their expectation. Lack of communication at the initial start of a relationship is the main cause of the problems that occur further down the line. Some say that the solution is to be straight forward, however that doesn’t solve the fact that some people cannot handle rejection and constantly persist on things going
