This time we worked with students trying to review the material they have learned. I only got one student due to the cross country team. His name is David (nickname). In the beginning, I was pretty surprised that David didn’t even start his worksheet. David is a smart boy based on my knowledge. With the visits we did last few week, David was able to solve most of the questions by himself and he was also able to explain it to his partner why. Based on last visit, I think he could handle the review sheet pretty well and I was assuming he will do at least half of his work. However, David did nothing. I have two interpretations about this. We spent around 10 minutes on explaining every detail to make sure he really understood what it is. So I am not sure how long he need to finish everything else. The next question we went through is number 1. He got 10.3 as the answer. I let it go this time because I don’t know how long it will cost me to explain the situation. I told him “You cannot get 10.3 bracelet. In this case you need to round it up because you cannot cut a bracelet to 0.3 bracelet. To get the enough money we can only sell more. So in this case, we should round it up to 11.” I feel I would like to prompt with him about 10.3 is not the right answer. He should connect to the realistic life. But in this case, I didn’t prompt it because I don’t want to spend a lot of time on tiny problems like this. I think I should spend more time on big concepts such as the first conversation we had. I really would like to learn in this class is to know what I should do at that moment. I would like to learn what I should do in the lack of time situation. Either reasoning or going through math
