Regular Discussion Question: Chapter One: Tellson's Bank is small, dark, ugly, and uncomfortable. Why do the bank’s owners not update the look of the bank? Why might the owners of Tellson's Bank be proud of the bank’s dilapidated condition, and why would they go so far as to boast about its appearance? How does Dickens compare Tellson's Bank to England?

Casey and David have many humongous similarities and differences that are very evident. Casey and David are alike in many ways, such as how they both are extremely confident they will win the game/fight. It says this in verse 46 in the David and Goliath story and in lines 21 and 22 in the story Casey at the Bat. In verse 46 it says, “Today the Lord will help me defeat you. I’ll knock you down and cut off your head, and I’ll feed the bodies of the other Philistine soldiers to the birds and wild animals.
Cults Natalia Kaiser Burleson High School Cults have been around since the beginning of time. A cult is a social group or a social movement under one leader. It maintains a belief system, which includes a transformation of a group member. Members of the group are very loyal to their leader, members, and beliefs. In most cults they are brainwashed to kill others or even kill themselves.
12 Angry Men, which was released in 1957, is about twelve jurors who are deciding whether an 18-year old boy will lose his life. The boy was accused of murdering his father, and if he was found guilty, he would be charged with first degree murder and executed as a result. The movie consists of several themes, but one of the main themes that stands out to me is stereotyping. Most of the men in the room appear to be wealthy, one even brags about a company that he owns. At the beginning of the jurors meeting, many of the jurors agreed that “people like him” (referring to the boy) are awful and needed to be taken out a long time ago.
Cameron Todd Willingham was put to death for killing his girls, by setting the house on fire purposely in Corsicana, Texas. The Texas Forensic Science Commission determined that the local and state arson investigators used “flawed science” when the fire was labeled as arson. Experts stated that the findings were careless (Ryan 261-313).

The hope of the coming of an eschatological Davidic king is found in many second-Temple Jewish texts, some of which are composite and difficult to date. The Old Testament messianic expectation, however, undergoes some further development. First, this Davidic king is explicitly said to be without sin. Second, based on messianic interpretation of 2 Sam 7:14; Ps. 2:7, the Davidic messiah comes to be designated as the "son of God. " Third, the reference to "the one like a son of man" in Dan 7 develops into a pre-existent Messiah in 1 Enoch and 4 Ezra.
What a terrible thing for a man to believe! Since when is dishonesty a group characteristic? You have no monopoly on the truth!” (16). Juror Nine’s defense indicates that he is a very honest and open person who is still reposeful after being provoked by Juror Ten.

One of the ironic events that happened in David’s life was when his daughter Lucy gets raped by a group of men (). Even though both of this situations happen to have different circumstances this is still an ironic event in David’s life. David previously had a relationship with one of his former students named Melanie Isaacs who he technically rapes, because he forces himself into her house and she did not give him her consent before they had sex. Which is shown here, ”she is too surprised to resist the intruder who thrust himself upon her{…} no not now she says struggling”.(24-25) Since David had raped Melanie Isaac it was an unfortunate situation to have the same thing happen to his own daughter Lucy.
