Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved superheroes.
I mean, who doesn’t? It’s an epic battle between the good and the bad. Outside of the storylines and the comic strips, there is a new battle being fought between fans. Many have debated the argument about which comic book character would win in a fight. Most of the time these characters are from either Marvel or DC Comics. The debate over characters leads to an even larger argument. Which is better, Marvel or DC? For the most part, the answer is just a matter of preference.
When Did It All Start?
Martin Goodman was the founder of a company called Timely Comics, which is later renamed to Marvel Studios. The Marvel Universe was officially released in 1961. Many people associate Marvel and The Avengers with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, but Goodman actually hired them to create the Fantastic Four Comics. Not many people know this, but the founder of DC Comic books was Malcolm Wheedler Nicholson. In 1939, DC Comics released the Superman story for the first time. DC Comic’s shows may not be connected to their movies either, but almost all of their tv shows have connected story lines. Of the two Company’s movie business’s, Marvel has made more movies and those movies have made 45% more money than the movies based on DC characters. In a website article, “Marvel films have grossed more than $190 million but the average for DC is only $129 million,” (Dingman). Marvels The Avengers movie had the largest profit of any comic book movie ever made (Dingman). However, DC’s movie The Dark Knight came in a close second and is considered to be one of the best movies ever made
