There were many noticeable components that contributed to the advancement and growth of the United States such as: industrialization, the Great Depression, and war. Of the many occurrences, technology had the single greatest impact on the continued evolution of the United States. The new inventions, new discoveries, and new innovation led to greater economic growth and wealth that the American people experienced during 1920-1940. One invention that influenced and continues to impact American lives is the automobile. Kyvig (2002) has argued that automobile ownership tripled during the 1920s, and by the end of the decade four families out of five owned an automobile.
Within the text, Cobb includes eleven different pictures, most of which depict the variety of electric cars that are currently Available on the market. For pictures that aren’t as obvious, Cobb included captions to explain their meaning. Cobb uses a picture of a man by the name of Steve Marsh to enhance his argument. Steve Marsh has driven over 100,000 miles in his Nissan Leaf, which he bought in large part to save money. By including this image Cobb is able to help the audience foster identification with the text.
In the late 1800s, the blueprint for automobile was perfected in Germany and France, America then dominated the industry during the first half of twentieth century. During the first few years in the twentieth century, automobiles had a limited audience because automobile were expensive and time consuming to produce and most cars are too costly for the public. Although the automobile was to have its greatest social and economic impact in the United States, it was initially perfected in Germany and France towards the end of the nineteenth century by Nicolaus Otto, Gottlieb Daimler, Carl Benz and Emile Levassor. Henry Ford invented mass production techniques that became standard with Ford, General Motors and Chrysler emerged as the “Big Three:
“Henry Ford’s Model T put the world on wheels with a simple, affordable, durable, automobile.”(ad citation) Ford’s goal was to make a reliable car for the family, and he did. The Model T was easy to maintain which was perfect for all of the people just started to drive in America. In the very early 1900’s the roads were just starting to appear around the nation. Before there was no need for nice roads because everyone had horses and horse-drawn carriages.
Technology helped bring up the economy with new discoveries, inventions and upgrades to help Aamerican lives after the war with Eeurope ended in 1918 . The invention of automobiles helped all other technology evolve because everyone needed transportation , but these benefits came with a negative effects . The first major invention created in the 1920’s was the automobile, invented by Henry Ford . A couple years later the Ford company was born . Many automobiles were being sold , by the end of the decade, at least every family had one1 Fford car .
Comparing the effects of the steam engine to today’s society, it is a reasonable prediction for one to make that the electric motor will have similar effects on the world today. For example, electric motors have already been used to power everyday items such as fans, fridges, and washing machines (“Social Impact- Electric Motor”). This advancement is similar to that of the steam-powered engine being used to power factory machines rather than using windmills or watermills. Before we know it, in this day and age, cars with electric motors will be used by a majority of the population, and steam motors, or any other type of motor for that matter, will be obsolete, just as windmills and watermills had. Clearly, the steam engine has already impacted the modes of transportation and production around the world, and it is very likely that electric motors will have very similar effects on
Automobiles were affordable and were designed carefully. The majority of these cars were produced by the Ford Motor Company, led by Henry Ford, who designed a different model each year to satisfy the insatiable crowd. Many of the automotive innovations that we think of as being modern—like electric powered cars, four wheel drive, front wheel drive, hybrid fuel and electric cars—were introduced during the 1920s. The automobiles had various different colors in order to get the attention of people, especially woman, and through time, they evolved to become more comfortable to drive for men (Scott ,1). The automobiles were beneficial to the U.S because they expanded the area of habitat.
Another negative commonly brought up about electric powered automobiles is that they take too much time out of our busy lives to fully recharge the main battery. “EVs commonly can add about 20 to 25 miles of range in an hour of charging from a 240-volt source of electricity” (Berman, "What Is An Electric Car?”). This is seen as very inconvenient when car owners have the ability to get over one hundred miles of power through five to ten minutes spent at a local gas station. (Berman, "What Is An Electric Car?”).
“Why Electric Cars are the Future” Introduction Attention Getter: It was Sunday at park, two college students were discussing about cars. One of them said that imagine about two decades ago, it appeared there was no effective alternative to the gasoline and oil, but now there is a better, cleaner, and more effective substitute to them: electricity. Although electric engines are not so widespread, more and more people consider changing their gasoline-fueled vehicles to electric cars. Then I discovered why electric cars are the future.
Cars are the most important products in the modern lifestyle. Whether it’s going to work, school, the mall, or even your friend’s house, it’s likely that you will be using a car to get there. As you all know, cars can have drastically different prices and look drastically different as well. I’m sure everyone here has a car, and I’m also sure everyone here will be buying another car in the future. Whether you want a car that can fit a large amount of people, or a sports car that can go extremely fast, an electric car will almost always be the best option for you.
The Rise of the Automobile in 1920s in The Great Gatsby Perhaps no invention affected American everyday life in the 20th century more than the automobile. The invention and improvement of the automobile not only changed the America society, but also the whole world. The rapidly growing automobile industry led by Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company produced new and better models every year to supply the insatiable public demand. Increased wages and lower cost vehicles made possible through mass production meant that cars became increasingly affordable, although 3 out of 4 cars were bought on installment plans.

A lot of people love to hear about energy efficient and environmentally friendly options out there. The electric vehicles today serve great benefits in keeping emissions down and using a more friendly alternative energy source. In my opinion they have made an impact on the environment, but a major benefit in using this alternative resource is less cost to fuel the vehicle. Gasoline is very expensive today, and using the energy that is used to power our home, is much less expensive and more available than gas. The environment, as claimed by environmentalists, suffers due to the emissions of automobiles today.
Cars have advanced a substantial level during the 21st century; the technological improvements that have been displayed in cars have led them to be the prime source of transportation. As we are growing, technology is evolving along the way as they have developed electric cars to benefit the earth and its atmosphere as gasoline cars harm the earth with the pollution that it causes. These two different types of cars are diverse in all the ways possible. Henceforth, there are a myriad of factors a consumer would encounter when choosing to purchase either of the two choices available based on; economical, environmental and location factors. There are certain economical advantages and disadvantages in the decision on either purchasing an electric
