Henry Ford was an American innovator who paved the way for many low-income families to have easily accessible transportation. When making the revolutionary Model T, Henry wanted to keep it simple, durable, and affordable. Although Henry was the brains of the Ford Motor Company, he knew that the employees were the backbone. Many would jump at the chance to work for Ford because of their reputation. Henry saw the need for a car for the working class people in America, and that’s why he made the first truck ever. Ford knew what the people of America needed, and he made sure that they got it.

The Model T was easy to maintain which was perfect for all of the people just started to drive in America. In the very early 1900’s the roads were just starting to appear around the nation. Before there was no need for nice roads because everyone had horses and horse-drawn carriages. The roads back then were nothing like the ones we have today. There were only about 18,000 miles of paved roads total in the United States. For all those that did not get the luxury of driving on the newly paved roads, the gravel and dirt took a toll on their vehicles. This is why Henry chose the materials he did, for the Model T. He wanted to make sure that the Model T could withstand the common tough terrain. Henry took into consideration the weight and also the reliability of the chosen materials. He used vanadium steel because it is lightweight despite its durability and strength. Perfect for the rough roads of that time. With Ford’s innovative thinking nothing could stand in his way. He found a new and improved way to make for efficient work. The assembly line reduced the time it took to make one Model T by 11 ½ hours.
