Happiness
Happiness can be seen in my different ways and also defined in many different ways. With the information of the TED Talks, personal experiences, and the story’s that the class read, there was a lot of information and examples of happiness. The definition of happiness that I made was how people feel when they choose to help others and to take things for granted and not overthink anything. Also, by doing the little things in life, so people feel like they have accomplished more than what they would have.
One of the way for people to feel happy is by helping other people out. In TED Talk “The five Half-Truths About Happiness” the fifth half-truth was the “best way to make yourself happy is to make other people happy”(Rubin). The way to make other people happy is by helping them out when they are struggling at something or just being there for support when they have something going on. Helping others out also “helps us connect with others and build our capacity to cope when things go wrong”(Williamson 1). With the information from TED Talk on happiness, the synthetic happiness turns out, in the long run, to be more happier than natural happiness. Natural happiness people start to overthink things and start getting stressed out or worried if they have chosen correctly or not. During the data collecting in the TED Talk about paintings, the people who had the choice of switching out paintings were less happier than the people who were not able to switch because people were wondering if they picked the one they really wanted and were worrying.
