Whenever I hear someone say, “Oh, he’s in love with her” or “She can’t get over her love for him” I always have a mixed feeling. I usually react this way because of the people themselves and how they are experiencing it, but I never even think about the word love and its meaning. Actually I only started to ponder about the meaning and how everyone else preserves love. Living in this world, we read and watch romantic stories of how people fall in love with each other. We all know the concept of romance. If an ordinary person googles love, Google Dictionary defines it as: “(1) You feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to (someone). (2.) like very much; find pleasure in.” (Google) But is that really what love is? Is love when a man has lust on a woman and simply calls it love? I wholeheartedly disagree. Many would say love is an emotion and that is true. But I see love as much more than that. Love is a factor in almost all the emotions if you think about it. If you are sad, you simply don’t feel love. If you are joyful you are usually full of love. If you are in sympathy, you are full of love toward a person who is going through a tough time in their life. Compassion is a result of love. Jealousy is when you have no love for the person and only think about how you can love yourself more. We can go on and on about what love has to do with emotions but you get the idea. However, love is a unique emotion because it does not have factors. It is simply
