What is the definition of beauty? Webster’s dictionary says “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses”, but to some people true beauty comes in fire. Beauty is reflected in what a women’s worth, both their past and present. I chose these two different insights from both writers as a relation to our days. Both writers define something beautiful when they feel very passionate or love towards something or someone and doesn’t matter how it may appear to another person. People can automatically refer to beauty as fitness and utility. Fat is ugly and skinny with fair skin is beautiful.
The literal meaning behind Beauty is “a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight.” Most people view the features that white people obtain as the general thing you need to be beautiful. Morrison and Lamar emphasize how African American view themselves when it comes to beauty. In a humanistic standpoint, beauty can be anything. It can be a way to receive pleasure or power, a physical feature or an attractive person, and many others. The novel 1984 has many different definitions of beauty; for example, public hangings and war are deemed “beautiful” and bring people entertainment.
There is not one definition that encompasses the concept of beauty. However beauty has a lot to do with perception and how we view ourselves. Throughout the essay “Beauty: When the Other Dancer is the Self” author, Alice Walker learns a lot about this concept. Her journey from a conceited, young child to, ultimately, a woman who is able to come to terms with who she is, demonstrates this idea that beauty is truly about perception and how we view ourselves.
Beauty can be defined in different ways: Beauty describes how anything in perspective like a face, an object, an action is adorable or pleasant. Beauty also refers to the person’s character, personality, or intellect. This topic of beauty affects all because in today’s culture, society judges appearances independently and seems to completely ignore what is portrayed inside of the person. In the essay, “A Woman’s Beauty: Put Down or Power Source?” Susan Sontag explains that for women, beauty is an occupation that they have to keep to maintain their financial situation.
Beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, colour, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. Brutality is savage physical violence; great cruelty. The human race can be beautiful a brutal since it balances the complex character which humans are, we see this in The Book Thief with the characters and how war makes them react. Compassion is beautiful since the caring nature which human can bring comfort for those who are sad and conflicted.
Beauty, in this sense, runs along the lines of what is seen of others and causing people’s mentality to be altered, believing that the best definition of beauty is being extremely skinny and not eating in order to maintain the ideal body image. This view of how beauty should be portrayed is parallel to that which is dispersed
Beau·ty: a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. The definition of beauty today, is icommonsurable from the dictionary definition. What if I told you that people were killing themselves trying to please society? Photoshopped images create extremely unrealistic expectations of body image and beauty.
The term “beauty” is used to describe so many things, but how does someone usually determine if something is beautiful for example, people in today’s generation usually hate that the term beauty is being described to them, but they love to use that word to describe other people.
1.5) “You are not one in a million, you are one of a kind” Draft We live in a society where happiness is measured in kilograms. Where a person is only as good as their skin. A society full of people just trying to be one in a million. All missing out on the true beauty that is being one of a kind.
Subjectively, the term beauty is defined independently by each and every person. Today, so much of the definitions emphasis is placed on a person’s or object’s physical appearance. Physically attractive objects and people are known to be beautiful and desirable, and those that do not meet society’s standards of “beauty” can be ridiculed. Yet, beauty does not mean the outward or physical appearance of a person or object. Beauty can define a person’s heart and personality; beauty can explain a person’s actions, or describe an inspiring view.
In this world, there is an infinite amount of definitions for beauty. The perception of beauty all depends on the point of view of the person. Although human beings haven`t come up with an exact definition of beauty, some people base their definition on external qualities, while others base on internal qualities. For the purpose of this essay, beauty is defined as a quality, external or internal, that catches the attention of a person, and it is strong enough to make that person think about it constantly. Beauty comes in many forms, and it is only recognized when it contains the qualities necessary to stand out.
