Beauty; “The quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit” (Merriam-Webster.com, Beauty, 2016) Logically, this makes sense, coming from a dictionary. However, this is not what a typical person immediately thinks when asked to describe this word. According to the average male, beauty was described as “The one thing that draws you towards her. The thing she cannot see herself, without your help.” This definition can bring up many questions. Why is the female the only one who has beauty? Why can she not see this? Why is beauty so much more important than all other aspects of this female? Perhaps it should be broken down.

It may seem strange, since music, literature, art, and women are all considered beautiful. When asked on this website, user Darin88, an average male claims; “...the word gained a feminine quality…”(Yahoo.com, Gender Studies, 2013). So it could be assumed that men do not even want to be considered beautiful, because that would be considered “girly” or make them seem weak. But what about the men that want to feel beautiful? Even children and animals are considered graceful, adorable and delightful - but never a man.
