Breydon Holtti Dr. Alsaadi English 110 2 February 2023 Breydon Holtti ’s essay “Read This Story and Get Happier” Response Happiness is a complex and subjective emotion that can mean different things to different people. At its core, happiness is a state of well-being that is characterized by feelings of contentment, joy, and satisfaction. Some people view happiness as a temporary emotion that is brought on by external events such as material success, a successful relationship, or a special accomplishment.
The Websters Dictionary portrays or defines happiness as a state of content,satisfaction or euphoria. Happiness is something that cannot be forced or simulated and it is more that just a simple feeling or emotion. It is more than just a noun used in the vocabulary of the average third grade child. Happiness is an undescribable sentiment that anything can experience depending on that specific thing. It is natural and one of a kind.
Welcoming a new born child into the world. These are all scenarios of what is considered to be happiness. All these scenarios are intertwined with pleasure. Coffee on a beautiful day, movie theaters and sex are all fickle pleasurable ideas that can lead to permanent happiness. The society an individual lives in contributes greatly to how they define happiness.
Americans think that is always a bad thing to feel sadness and that not true. How can a person tell if someone else is happy? Is it how much money they have, or how much they smile in a day? In “Happiness and Its Discontents,” author Leonard J. Rosen and Laurence Behrens observe that “humankind has debated definitions of happiness for thousands of years, and still a single, acceptable definition eludes us” (523). There’s not one definition of happiness, there are many different kinds.
Happiness is associated with the notion of feeling good, the avoidance of pain and the pursuit of pleasure. The pursuit of happiness has been an ancient tradition in which we believe that the only way to achieve a good life is to be happy. I personally believe that happiness comes from being kind to one another, having good company, a job that we will enjoy, making others smile and just simply helping out one another. I also believe that happiness is based on how one perceives life. For example, negative people such as people who are close-minded or pessimistic will have a negative outlook on life while people who are more optimistic and open-minded have a more positive attitude towards life.

Dopamine help us being motivated to take action toward goals, needs, and desire, and then gives a feel of pleasure and contentment when we achieving them. Thai Nguyen, in the article titled 'Hacking into Your Happy Chemicals' point out that one of the way to improve happiness by activate the dopamine is by setting goals (The Huffington Post, October. 20, 2014). Instead of letting our brains to celebrate when we complete a big task, we can create a train of celebration by breaking a big goal into little pieces which releases the dopamine chemical.
The word happiness can be vague. It can mean a brief moment of happiness, such as getting a good grade or getting a good night sleep. But it can also mean more long lasting happiness like, meeting

These questions do not have a just a single answer because happiness varies for on every individual. Any number of things can make a person happy; ranging from losing a pound, learning a new skill, and even scoring the game winning point.
Happiness is an abstractive word, so people can’t express the real meanings. Happiness is very hard to be defined, therefore, it depends on what people think of what happiness it is. Human may achieve happiness by getting sense of achievement from the job, eating delicious food, and having a family. The following statements show that how people achieve happiness.
Someone's happiness can be defined in a number of ways that differ from everyone else's definition of happiness. Some might say that they are truly happy because they have wealth or they can spend money on material things. Others might say activities and exercising can make someone feel happy, but not everyone does the same activities such as going out or working out. There are many different meanings of happiness for everyone whether it be money, exercising, taking vacations, or just going out. The happiness in my life comes from the people I choose to surround myself with such as spending time with my family and friends daily.
Happiness has a broad meaning. One may consider it to be having money, love, or even just enjoying the little things in life. There is no real definition for happiness because it all depends on a person 's perspective of life. Happiness is more about the way you think and act rather than a material possession. It is not something that has a physical form, or that is worth something valuable, yet everybody seeks it.

For some people, happiness is to enjoy their work, social life, but for other it may be money or family. Happiness is an experience in which we can understand more and learn appreciation. It is strived for in relationships, in successful endeavors or actions, or in taking up particular hobbies. Happiness is an amazing thing and makes one feel great, but can too much happiness be a bad thing? Too much happiness is a surprising statement, but is nonetheless true, because too much happiness can have negative impacts on one's life. Negative emotions, despite the fact that they are less coveted than the positive emotions, serve just as vital a role in terms of giving perspective, creating arguments, and preventing unnecessary risk.
The definition of happiness incorporates different aspects of religion, science, and philosophy. To me, being happy means that someone has discovered who they truly are and what they believe in. A study on the Jewish
