Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman may be a few of the most well-known superheroes out there. They fly across our movie screens, defeating evil villains and saving the day with their superpowers. However, there are many heroes who never get screen time. To many, a hero is someone who saves the world from the forces of evil. To me, however, the definition of a hero is a person who fights for what is right and never gives up, despite the obstacles. A hero to me is someone who inspires others to follow in their footsteps, someone who wants to make the world a better place. My hero is Malala Yousafzai. She is the true definition of a hero to me because she fought for what she believed in, the right for women in her country to receive education, despite the dangers of the Taliban that many people were afraid of. Malala is courageous and inspirational, and she fights for what is right. She is also very young, and despite not being much older than I am, she is brave and one of the most influential people of our time. She thinks about women all over the world and fights for the rights that they may not have, inspiring many to follow in her footsteps. Malala has played a part in my life by inspiring me to do more for those who need it, like women and girls who aren’t allowed to learn, or even smaller things like helping the homeless or volunteering at the animal shelter. She has helped me see that anyone can change the world no matter what their age, gender, race, or orientation is; they just need the determination and passion to do it. My hero does not know how she has influenced me, but I hope that Malala knows the huge role she has played in many people’s lives.
