“Good” is one of those everyday words that we use, although never genuinely thought about. Its definition in today’s dictionary can signify something equivalent or different in a foreign language. People may have different point of views on the word “good” and those views are dependent on different circumstances. Nevertheless, there is still only one right perspective: God’s. The word “good” first appeared in the Old English language and the meaning has remained the same to this very day. “Good” has a multitude of different meanings in the dictionary, all of which has something to do with being morally excellent, virtuous, and/or righteous. Another one is what grade you are in your school. For a preschooler and kindergartener, it is so effortless to please them. All it took was a smiley face sticker and a good job. In one of my pictures of me holding up a thumbs-up piece of paper, I was so happy my parents said I looked like I had swallowed a light bulb. Hitting first and second grade, you might not be as ecstatic with a “well done” or a smiley face sticker as before. Perhaps, your desire was to have a “you’re a star” or a “very impressive” sticker. Third through fifth grade is when you first began to be graded by the method of A’s, B’s, and C’s, thus, you didn’t fully understand how the grading worked. All you knew for sure was it did not matter if you received an A or B as long as it wasn’t a C. It was when you graduated to middle school that you started to comprehend the grading system. You noticed that there are plenty of the other kids who make a combination of A’s and B’s too. You also discovered that you have a competitive nature in yourself. You yearned to be distinctive, to cease getting B’s, to refrain from being mediocre or good. You wanted to be phenomenal. In the Bible, the word good has to do with moral qualities.
