Success is a goal everyone wants to attain before their time on this Earth is expired. The common understanding of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, such as fame or prosperity. In reality, how many people attain this level of success? Very few people do, yet most people believe that you are only truly successful if you are famous or very wealthy. However, there are multiple ways a person can be successful that do not involve fame or money.
For example, one brother in a family becomes a lawyer with a decent paycheck and starts a family of his own. Unfortunately, his job causes him to work long hours and miss quality time with his family. Unlike him, his younger brother started a charity organization and became a teacher. The younger brother had the same opportunity as his older brother to become a lawyer, but refused, instead insisting to save more time for his family. Although the younger brother does not make as much money as his older brother, is he any less successful than him? In his eyes, no. They have acquired fame and financial stability, but are they satisfied with their personal lives? Throughout their climb up the ladder, they have made many sacrifices and endured personal losses. Whether they have missed out on family celebrations or have difficulty maintaining real relationships due to their popularity, their personal lives have suffered. Therefore, their economic lives may be a success, but their personal lives not as much. The world needs to realize that the determination of the success of those celebrities is based only on a snapshot of their lives that we have access to; we do not get to see the whole picture.
