How many of you have ever had a strange dream before? Did you think about the dream and wonder what it could possibly mean? Or perhaps, what type of dream it was you just experienced and why? Like all of you, I can guarantee you are not alone. Knowing different types of dreams, the underlying meaning of certain dreams, and understanding why we dream helps us better comprehend what dreams actually are. Ordinary dreams take place during Rapid-eye-movement, or REM sleep. This type of dream includes basic dreams such as riding a horse, playing basketball, or walking in a neighborhood. Next, lucid dreams. Lucid dreams are “conscious” dreams; conscious meaning you are aware that you are dreaming. When you are lucid dreaming you can control your dreams, knowingly wake up from your dream, and explore possibilities or “what if’s”. Daydreams are very well-known. Daydreams occur when you are awake; you could be sitting in class, driving, in a meeting, or at a dinner table.
