Definition Essay: What Does Being Cool Mean?

What does “being cool” mean? Have you ever met someone that you think is cool and then someone else says “well I disagree”? And when they ask why you think they are cool you kind of freeze up and kind of get lost in translation because trying to explain your definition of cool is incredibly hard. Does cool mean the same in every country? Or even every state? Or every peer group? The term cool means something different to everyone. I think that “cool” means being yourself, loving what you love, and standing up for what you like or believe in. I am not sure who comes up with what is actually cool or not. People just want someone to decide this rather than being their own form of cool because they are scared to be judged. Websters dictionary defines cool as….. My Personal thoughts are different from this. I believe everyone’s definition of cool is different. I personally think that being you defines being cool or having a “coolness” persona. Who doesn’t like someone who is being themselves and not conforming to society? Or doing the “popular” thing that week. It makes me happy to see someone being out of the box rather than seeing everyone in ugg boots and drinking Starbucks. It makes you different and creative. …show more content…

Also traveling somewhere or even just doing something that looks so incredible is very cool to others .The definition is all over the place. But, when I condense the word cool I think of someone just doing something they love and being so happy and not caring what anyone thinks.
