When someone thinks of the word “self-efficacy”, he or she often thinks the word actually is “self-efficiency”. However, even though these words sound similar, they are very different. “Self-EFFICIENCY” is not a word. Many people say “self-efficiency’, but they actually mean “self-efficacy”. Self-efficacy is someone’s own belief that he or she can achieve a specific task or goal. Anyone who wants to do something in life must have self-efficacy. People must know how hard they have to work in order to accomplish what they want. Someone who has a high amount of self-efficacy tends to have a larger idea of the challenges the want to face. Self-efficacy is there primarily to keep pushing you towards your goal. With little self-efficacy, you will most likely only reach for goals that you know you can achieve without challenge. You can’t better yourself if you don’t challenge yourself. A lack of confidence also is created. With little confidence, you won’t be a good leader in your career, for example. Without effort, there is absolutely no advancement. Self-efficacy has many words similar to it: confidence, self-esteem, etc. Self-efficacy can be driven by yourself and also others as well. Role models, for example, can serve people of efficacy. A person who looks up to someone who has already completed the desired goal help to encourage you to keep working towards you completely the goal as well. I think that everyone need at least a small amount of self-efficacy in order to make the world a better place.
