We hear the word friendship and automatically think of a person who is close to you. According to Dictonary,com the word friendship means, “A state of being a friend; association as friends, a friendly relationship or intimacy” (“Friendship” Def. 1 &2). My personal definition of friendship is a feeling or emotion that expresses to another person that they feel wanted and important. Also that there is a relationship between a person or group of people where they are able to express their emotions when they need someone to be there. Friendship is not only a word to me but there is a deeper meaning when it comes to the different levels of friendship whether it’s a best friend or family member. Whether it be a person or animal everyone has a best friend. To me a best friend is a person you can tell everything to. Whether you are wanting to share the best news in the world so they can share your happiness with them. Or the saddest moments expressing your emotions while having someone to support you emotionally. I know that a lot of people think that a strong friendship is based on time, but that is not always true. Loyalty, communication, and respect are the three factors that can make a normal friendship into a best friend. At one point in our young teenage lives we viewed our best friends on such a pedestal that was untouchable. But the older we get and the more knowledge we obtain while dealing with life and our everyday situations that we are put in family seems to form a greater and stronger bond. Whether it’s a bond between a sibling, cousin or parent they seem to be the ones that will always be there at the end of the day.
