MAN'S FULFILMENT
"Philosopher Alan Gewirth in his book Self-Fulfilment defined self-fulfilment as "carrying to fruition one's deepest desires or one's worthiest capacities." Another definition states that self-fulfilment is "the attainment of a satisfying and worthwhile life well lived.""- Wikipedia. Fulfilment in itself does not solely comprise of accomplishing our individual interests or fulfilling our desires. I believe it is the utmost contentment with our lives in all its ramifications through our constant effort in chasing intrinsic and extrinsic goods. They are what contributes to a fulfilled life.
Man was not created to be an isolated being. On the contrary, man is a social being with whom interactions must occur for survival, development …show more content…

These consequential social bonds from these relationships facilitate other needs as well, such as a sense of belonging, and a desire to love and be loved. Note that close interpersonal relationships was stated. This is because man may form numerous relationships with other individuals for various reasons such as business purposes, a common goal, clubs, etcetera. Although, they may not have people to truly love, who would reciprocate that love. Usually, relationships like these occur because of the mutual benefits they receive from one another. To love a person does not mean to achieve a specific goal from that person and be grateful. It means to give oneself wholly to that person, irrespective of what you gain or "lose". It usually involves sacrifice and self identification with the other individual. Man, being aware that this is what love entails, is still willing to love. This shows that because man was not made to be alone, he is willing to put his own preferences aside for the sake of another human being. If this is the case, that means man finds fulfilment in loving another human being. This is because he finds happiness in something that requires charity and tolerance and patience (supposedly everything against his will). They are bonded by a common goal which is to worship a common God. Man cannot be secluded from this group because he is provided with the privilege of acquiring his spiritual grounds, becoming aware of the supernatural. Although it may require some time and effort to be dedicated in this field, this community provides great support to man and his moral and spiritual needs. Man focusing on his preferences alone will only pull him away from this group, leaving him to be a patient without a doctor (if he is a religious). He cannot accomplish a fulfilled life if he is spiritually or morally
