I’m interested in joining the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. I would love to join this organization, because I love what they stand for and what they have done for the world so far. They have done things as opening school in Haiti and Africa, Delta house in Africa, and many other things. One of the reason I want to join this prestigious organization is because they do stuff to better the country that I was born in, and everything that’s helping Haiti becomes a better country is something I have to at least try to be a part of. It will also help me get started with my plan on opening a youth center in Haiti.
I would be extremely honored to be granted the opportunity of being a part of such an amazing sisterhood. My personal values line up with those of which Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. stand for. I strongly believe that public service throughout communities will result in a positive change throughout the world. Likewise, educational development is extremely important to me because the access to education in all levels enlightens individuals and allows them to achieve their goals and amplify their accomplishments. Additionally, I believe Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will help me grow more into the person I want to become, because I venerate all the qualities of a Delta women.
Becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. has been an unchanging aspirtaion of mine. From a young age I was presented with Delta women who are an exstordonary representation of what is means to wear the letters. These women have been my role models, mentors, and also my spiritual, and emotional guides. I am intrested in becoming a member of this soroity because I yearn to be surrounded by motivated, intellegent, and dedicated women. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, as well as its members, possess attributes which I consider to be pivital in the development of a sense of self and community.
My experiences in Rho Psi Eta, a pre-health sorority, allowed me to learn about various cultures through collaboration with a diverse group of students. Rho Psi Eta consists of students from different backgrounds and across the country, of which many are first-generation students studying medicine. With our common goal to become healthcare providers, I have learned about my colleagues’ upbringings and barriers to pursue higher education. One of my colleagues shared her story about the financial barriers she faced in order to apply to college. On the other hand, I learned about her family’s traditions and the history of Latin music.
Although I did not know much about your sorority at the age of twelve years old, I saw something much more than a good deed. I witnessed the compassion and empathy from members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated when a family experienced a tragedy and lost everything they had in a house fire. The project was Habitat for Humanity. The love shown to that family and the symbolism of sisterhood was incredible. I want to be part of and add to that.
Image a pretty, blonde haired, college girl who isn’t the smartest, and a college guy who drinks too much and wears Sperrys with a Vineyard Vines shirt. Did you imagine these people and associate them with a particular group found on college campuses? Sometimes these stereotypes and and many other stigmas are associated with people in Greek Life. However, ASU’s Panhellenic Association (PHA) holds the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities on this campus to a higher standard, and the actions of these sororities shed light on some of the false stereotypes associated with them.
Of my many volunteer and paid extra-curricular activities, the most important to me is the National Art Honor Society, which extends artistic activities to my community. We organize two school events: the Festival of Trees and the Talent Competition. The Festival of Trees is an event when every school club can choose to donate and decorate a tree that we set up. All of the money raised goes to an organization of our choice. For the last 4 years, we have donated to Street Grace, which benefits the fight against human trafficking, especially in the Metro Atlanta area.
Alpha Fraternity on campus, they are always walking with their heads held high, attentive and ready. They are the people that you want to look up to in society. For example when Alpha Phi Alpha members do things such as, help paint a school or help out at a soup kitchen, they are being good roles models to the community. I want to be someone that other people look up to. I think that it is imperative that we as young African Americans set a good example for the younger black children growing up today.
Joining Alpha Sigma Tau has given me many strengths. My confidence was immediately boosted after my fear of not being good enough to join a sorority was conquered; this confidence boost soon flourished as I grew to know my new sisters. I have always struggled in making friends, and knowing that so many girls truly valued me as a person gave me the confidence that I had been lacking up until
Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “Help others and give something back. I guarantee you will discover that while public service improves the lives and the world around you, the greatest reward is the enrichment and new meaning it will bring to your own life.” This quote clearly explains what service truly means to people that care about others from their heart. National Honor Society is an organization which recognizes students’ achievements not just with exceeding grades, but with service, leadership, and character. Serving others is an important and valuable pillar of the National Honor Society.
but I also believe Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has so much more to offer myself and the world. Who wouldn’t want to be apart of a sisterhood that engages in Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement? The world we live in today needs strong educated black women to leave their mark and uplift the lives of others. The key to success for me is to put what I believe into practice. Think phenomenal things and then work hard to put them into action.
Being apart of the UC community and making UC a better place when I leave is a top priority for me personally. If I get to have the chance to start a student run organization it would be similar to the organization that I help form at my High school. The Handy Helpers club is a club that me and fellow students at my High School started to help teacher with some small chores that usually the janitors would get to after they were done with all their other task. We have performed such tasks like fixing pencil sharpeners, fixing tables , cleaning whiteboards ect. What is great about this idea is that we had the chance to help more than just the teachers who we were completing tasks for, we also were helping the janitors because they would not
The narrative tone of the book is clearly that of an older man looking back upon the accomplishments and mistakes of his youth, it is a deliberate attempt to reshape his past and look forward to a more fulfilling future. An element of self-reflection pervades the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin’s theme involved his philosophy of bettering himself for the betterment of others. Franklin uses speech so carefully to present an idealized version of himself and in many cases, makes his faults appear noble though the use of his language and writing. The (hopeful) result in constructing this particular writing was to create a sense of self-betterment while also keeping in mind that his audience would and could learn from his
The volunteering experience and social impact has been highly rewarding. I plan to also seek opportunities to include aspects of social impact and helping others into the agenda of my overall college
From reading and studying the WORD of GOD, I am already aware of the Biblical Prophets and their messages. I was also aware that prophets were not limited to those that may have books assigned to in the canon. When reading Heschel, I was reminded of the isolation and loneliness of the ancient biblical prophets. Loneliness is something most people face at one time or another in their life.
