1. How do the demographic characteristics of your community compare with the more general national characteristics? Why do you think they are similar or different? •The similarities of my neighbourhood and the whole of Canada is that the population is becoming increasingly culturally diverse. Most of Canada is bilingual and has many religions. Most of the population of Canada is Christian, but as the population becomes increasingly diverse, many more religions and cultures will continue to spread making Canada one of the most diverse places in the world. People in my neighbourhood’s median age is 39.6 while more generally in Canada it is 40.6. These numbers are very close together so I think that there are a lot of middle aged people in my neighbourhood more than elders and youths. The land area of my neighbourhood is very small compared to the land area of Canada which is one of the main differences of the demographic characteristics of my neighbourhood and the more general national characteristics. In Canada the percentage of male and female are quite the same as there is only a percent or two changed. I chose these topics because I thought that there was a high change in number between rural areas and urban areas. My neighbourhood and Toronto both have similar amounts of private dwellings and people in private households, but places like Nunavut has a higher amount of private dwellings and people in private in households. This is because in places like my neighbourhood and Toronto the land area is so small that people build many apartments to live in instead of small houses for each family. So, in places like Nunavut they have a large amount of land area so they can build many private
