Romeo Montague becomes depressed and lonely when the girl he loves does not want to love him back. Romeo’s parents and his cousin Benvolio begin discussing how sad and depressed he is, Lord Montague says, “Many a Morning Hath he there been seen, with tears augmenting the Fresh morning dew, Adding to clouds more clouds with his deep sighs” (1.1.17-19). Romeo’s parents wake up every morning only to see him crying and looking upset. They also have little to no idea on why he is doing this which makes them worry. Since Romeo is the only child of the Montagues, he will eventually have take over their name. 21-23). Romeo Montague is a name that makes every girl in Verona blush. He is the perfect bachelor with wealth and good social standings. A girl in Verona not wanting to love Romeo is absolutely unheard of, it just so happens to be the one girl that Romeo actually wants to love. A few hours later Romeo and his friends plan to crash the Capulet party. Romeo has a very bad feeling about going and even dreams about something terrible happening. He starts to explain this dream to Mercutio who Romeo is traveling to the party with, “Well what was yours? “That dreamers often lie” (1.4.41-47). Mercutio and Romeo have a very close bond and they are able to talk about anything. Mercutio thinks that Romeo is being a coward by trying to get out of going to the party. Romeo is very smart and stubborn at the same time. While his friends are joking around with him, he really does know that he is walking into a bad situation. He does not want to just forget about the intuition he has, so he walks into the party without an open mind, “I fear too early, for my mind misgives Some consequence hanging in the stars Shall bitterly begin his fearful date”
