It has been noted that the elderly do poorly is in divided attention tasks, which are “situations in which they need to memorize material and perform an activity while monitoring something else” (Belsky, 2016, pg. 393). Patricia explained that after the interview she had to go online to finish some of her work at a certain time. She kept checking the clock to make sure that it was not that time, so this showed that she has decent divided attention. In relation to the socioemotional perspective, Patricia has a wonderful outlook on life. In the socioemotional perspective the focus is on making what is left of someone’s life count (Belsky, 2016). In the text, it stated that Carstensen, the developer of this theory, “believes that the focus on making the most of every moment explains why late life is potentially the happiest life stage” (Belskey, 2016, pg. 399). This shows that Patricia does display integrity, but she does not let the fact that she has reached late adulthood stop her from completing all of her meaningful activities. In the text it stated that “Erikson believed that, to reach integrity, older people must review their lives and make peace with what they have preciously done” (Belsky, 2016, pg. 402). Patricia has made peace with everything she has done, through reviewing her past years of
