Theme: Wedding summary: This book begins with Greg Talking about since he and his best friend Rowley have had a big fight, their friendship has been history he even says he's becoming concerned Greg's mom says that she'll be going back to college for a few months in order to challenge her mind. so the men must take care of themselves, and almost everything falls apart. The food is often ruined,so they eat out almost every night and since their mom usually does the chores around the house, Greg is left with not much clean clothes to wear.
Greg is also responsible for waking himself up. He tries a different clock than his older one, which didn't really work. It was a wind-up clock. He put it under his bed so he would have to get out of bed to find it. But with the clock ticking loudly under his bed, he felt like he is on top of a bomb and because of that he gets no sleep. The result, Greg accidentally sets off the fire alarm at school in his overly tired state. The entire school has to evacuate, and the firemen are called.
