Did Columbus A Bad Guy In The Slavery Fiasco?

In 1492, europeans were ecstatic that one of their men had discovered new land. However did he really discover something new, or did he just find something that was discovered years before his time? For 525 years people have said that Columbus discovered America. Most people would say that they admire him for his bravery, but do the admire his dishonesty? When Columbus sailed across the Atlantic and hit land, there were already, what Columbus called, natives there, as it says in the text,” the new world was already inhabited and settled by numerous different groups.” So the natives already knew that there was land there, because they were the ones living on it. And the word discover means to find something new that no one else has seen. So technically Columbus just found something old. What if you knew that Columbus took part in the slavery fiasco? When Columbus found America, he had intentions to enslave the natives as soon as he saw them. Columbus himself said,” They would make fine servants.” He had plans to destroy the lives of innocent people, because he, along with other people, thought he needed servants. Majority of the world looked and still looks down on slavery. However, one of the world's biggest “heros” believed in it himself and took part. Soon after Columbus made his statement about servants, his thought turned into actions. “ He and his men rounded up about servants, selected 500, and these were sent, jammed together, on the voyage across the Atlantic,” this proves that what he was thinking and saying was not a hollow threat. Columbus meant what he said, and had made his visions and thoughts a reality. He had enslaved hundreds of people, whom had wives, children, mothers and fathers, and he forced them to say goodbye for his own well-being. How does that sound like a hero in any
