Did W. E. B. Dubois Influence African American Education

Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois are both very influential African Americans who strongly believed in providing more opportunities for education. In this essay I will be discussing the differences between these two educators as they preached different ideas. “Education is that whole system of human training within and without the school house walls, which molds and develops men.” I believe in this day and age this statement is accurate because without education and credentials providing that we’re fit for a job we won’t be hired. They shouldn't try to erase who they are just because society is telling them to. Earlier in my essay I had said a similar thing about self-consciousness manhood because this book has many ideas that relate to each other in different chapters. This book is more like a puzzle because we’re at first we are introduced to everything he will talk about and as we read each chapters pieces fit together that were already introduced to us, making his ideas easier to understand. The more I read The Souls of Black Folk the more I start to understand the difficulties and struggles that Negros did have and that shouldn't be forgotten but I also understand that society has changed and will keep on changing and discrimination and racism is not as powerful as it was fifty years ago. It’s a touchy subject and an issue that we will never forget but people and laws have changed so that everyone will feel as if we can all live together in harmony. DuBois has some very strong opinions as well as ideas and his story is very strong and it should be told because everyone needs to hear what he has to
