Many of us relate democracy with policing, but the reality is that democracy and policing conflict with each other. This chapter explains the difference between democracy and policing. Policing’s decisions are independent and they are made in a quick manner. This decisions need to be immediately. On the other hand, democracy struggle to make quick decisions, their desire is to prevent and intervene fast, but it is difficult to accomplish this while trying to keep making decisions fairly.
Democracy debates the moral choices of the policing, and the dilemma between the two in endless. This debate has been an issue since the twenty-first century where England started debating whether police agencies did not elected their commissioners.
