Chesnie Blankenship Comparing County Jails Wabash County Jail (WCJ) was built in 1979, so the conditions of the WCJ aren’t the best; compared to the Miami County Jail (MCJ). MCJ was built in 2009. The capacity of the WCJ only holds 72 inmates but is holding right now around 84 inmates. WCJ was getting over its rated capacity so they sent 36 inmates over to the MCJ.
Two boys are arrested, same crime, same charge, and same bondage amount, one of the boys gets to return to his home that same night; the other sits in jail for the rest of the night. Why is this you ask, so what’s the difference? The jail bond, the bond made all the difference. One boy’s parents could afford the bond amount and the other boys parents could not. If one thinks jails in modern-day U.S. society are bad, then he /she should consider exploring the detention facilities of other societies. Societies such as the one in Anthem (written by Ayn Rand) had a detention facility called the Palace of Corrective Detention which had horrible conditions compared to modern American jails. In the modern-day U.S. society people have more freedoms and liberties compared to Anthem 's society. After a close examination of Anthem, it is noticeably clear that the U.S. society is more progressive than the society in Anthem, which is glaringly obvious by contrasting modern-day U.S. jail with the Palace of Corrective Detention in Anthem.
They differentiate in size, technology, and rules, and staff. The Miami County Jail seems to have the advantage in a lot of these categories. The first at most noticeable difference I could found was the size of the two jails. The Miami county jail seemed to be much, much bigger. The very first thing that catches your eye is the size of the main room or lobby when you walk in.

What is prison? Most people would simply say that it is a place in which law breakers are housed. Some would say it is the place in which people are contained whom have killed someone, robbed someone, sold drugs to someone, or rape/molested someone. I, myself see as place in which was built to house individuals who have been found guilty of committing a crime, but I also can see that it seems to house a certain race group more than any other racial group in American society. And, the group that I speak of is that of African American (i.e. Blacks) decent.
Prison records refer to the recording of a criminal 's incarceration history. A person 's prison record will have a list of all the times he or she has been arrested as well as the time spent behind bars. A criminal check can be done by potential employers and landlords to find out whether a potential employee or tenant has a prison record. People end up in prison because they committed a criminal act. The person could have been arrested for possession of marijuana, or the person could have been arrested for murder.
Prison is a site created to confine individuals who have been convicted of a crime. These people are under the jurisdiction of the government and must serve a sentence, in order to be forgiven by law. Once their sentence is finalized; they are freed, and may join the rest of society as autonomous people. I’m a firm believer that everyone deserves a second chance in life. We are all humans and we have no right to judge someone by their previous mistakes.
The overall goal of the government is too, regulate prison systems and protect inmates/ prisoners. There is always room for improvement. Recently prison reform has been debated, as people are questioning the humane treatment of prisoners, and are curious here there tax dollars are going. The constitution covers various rights regarding prisoners to ensure their safety and wellbeing. The structure of all persons are controlled by the government, they run public, private, and state prisons.
Everybody in prison is incarcerated for many different reasons, some have major crimes, some have minor crimes and some are even falsely
Grounded or Jail Being grounded is not all bad when compared to being in jail. However, both are very similar and very different in some ways. Both are a type of punishment and can be effective. Both punishments can change a person’s life and their thought process. In the next couple of paragraphs, in more detail, I will discuss the restrictions, living conditions, and the consequences of both.
