What says the “Roaring Twenties” better than the “Great Gatsby.” Between the frill of the extravagant way of living and parties, to the thrill of the reunion of two long lost lovers, this new version of a classic novel allows the spectator to experience such a fascinating time period. “Great Gatsby” is a well-made production and an excellent example of a famous literary novel brought to life due to its appeal to a variety of people, aligned plot and quality of the movie production. The audience is taken through this life in the eyes of Nick Caraway, the narrator. After moving to Long Island, Nick is reunited with his second cousin, Daisy . . . and the mysterious Jay Gatsby who is his neighbor. After befriending Gatsby, Nick is caught up into this luring lifestyle, while at the same time trying to find his place in such a high society. In the introduction scene, the actor portraying Nick’s character takes direct quotes from the book, describing the setting as it brings Long Island to life. The character’s traits follow closely along with the novel as well, as Jay Gatsby is the mysterious character who longs for a friend and an unhappy Daisy who has difficulty deciding her fate. Specific details are included into the movie such as the blue eyes of Dr. T. J Ekberg, the green lantern in between the East and West Egg, and the Valley of Ash between the West Egg and New York
