The Great Gatsby is truly a book that when you start to read it you cannot put the book down. In this book there are so many things going on that you do not know what to think at first. There is the mysterious Mr. Gatsby, and the there is the timid Nick. There are a lot more characters in this story than just that, but those are some of the most important people at least in my opinion. This book starts out with Nick moves to the city and then he's moves to west egg. What is west egg you might ask, well it is the part of the city that people live in. Most of the people that live on this side of the lake are wealthy but they didn't come across it by family or anything like this, they would call them people with new money. Most people did not …show more content…

Whenever there was a situation he would try his best to stand up and make the best of it and take the responsibility he knew he needed to do. In this book Gatsby has a lot of stories about how he did so many different kinds of things. Like he knew it was his responsibility to go to war and serve his country and I think that is very honorable of him to do. He is always making sure everything else is perfect and it is mostly never for him it is usually for someone else in the end."It was a strange coincidence," I said. "But it wasn't a coincidence at all." "Why not?" "Gatsby bought that house so that Daisy would be just across the bay." In this quote you can obviously see that Gatsby does things just to please other people. He bought his house just so he could be close to the love of his life. If that doesn’t say something about him and his compassion for others and the love he has I do not know what would. IN this next quote you also see how Gatsby always sees the good in people and he doesn't really ever see the bad. He has a lot of trust and that goes along with him doing anything and everything for people."Meyer Wolfsheim? No, he's a gambler." Gatsby hesitated, then added coolly: "He's the man who fixed the World's Series back in 1919.""Fixed the World's Series?" I repeated. "Why isn't he in jail?""They can't get him, old …show more content…

I think because he is extremely trusting even if you are to do something to make him not trust you he will still always be there for you no matter what. When you are reading this book Gatsby is always trying to make others happy you can obviously see that from the parties that he throws. Everyone and anyone comes to these parties, and he just trusts them to be in his house and do anything they want and drink anything that they want. This is what I call trust because I know I would never allow all of those people in my house if I had that nice of a house. I also think that Gatsby always puts everyone else in front of him, like when he asked Nick to go on his Hydroplane with him and He let nick decided the time and everything. This quote from the book helps you get an idea of when Gatsby puts other people before himself. "You must remember, old sport, she was very excited this afternoon. He told her those things in a way that frightened her – that made it look as if I was some kind of cheap sharper. And the result was she hardly knew what she was saying." (8.22) I think you can see that he has hope and he will always take daisy side over anyone else because he trusts everyone and does not want to see the bad in people. I also love this quote because you can see that gatsby really does care, and as much as people want to make up rumors and say bad things about him, he truly does care
