A. Diversity. Diversity means that all individuals are different and have their own characteristics unique to them and their own identity. Every individual should be treated fairly regardless of any reason, be it beliefs, culture, age or ability. B. Equality. Equality means treating every individual with the same opportunities as others and attending to their needs in a fair and respectful way. Treating them the way they would like to be treated C. It promotes equality and ensures everyone is treated fairly. No individual will feel isolated because of any differences they have have or believe in. Making all activities fair and open to everyone, it makes it fair to everybody. The Equality Act 2010 legally protects individuals from any discrimination in any way in society and in a workplace. It outlines different ways in which it is unlawful for somebody to be treated. The Mental Capacity Act 2005 is there to protect individuals who may lack mental capacity to make their own choices about their care and lifestyle. This can involve fairly simple things like what clothing they wear and what they want to eat for dinner, to more serious life altering decisions, like where they should live if they need full time care, or if they need major surgery. The codes of conduct for adult care workers sets out the responsibilities of care staff as a list of statements that describe the standards of professional conduct in relation to equality and diversity in their daily work.
